Recreation and Leisure
Being a largely family-centered community, many of the recreation and leisure opportunities are private matters of faith or of family. Church or synagogue group activities and big family events like weddings and holidays form much of the social fabric of this part of New Jersey. Sports and outdoor activities are important, too. , The city of Edison maintains an extensive system of thirty-one parks, many sporting leagues, and a summer concert series with performances in six of those parks. In the winter, there is an outdoor ice rink at Roosevelt Park. There are no golf courses within the township of Edison, but three excellent courses are within easy distance in adjacent communities.
