Schools and Education
Though all public primary and secondary schools in Edison are overseen by a single Board of Education, there is a clearly defined geographical boundary that separates the schools of the north part of town from the schools of the south part of town. Each section has a single high school, J.P. Stevens High School in the north and Edison High School in the south. Each of these high schools is fed by two middle schools. There are six elementary schools in the south area and five in the north. Almost 60% of the students attending and destined for J.P. Stevens High School are Asian American, while most of the Edison High School students are Caucasian. Of the more than three hundred public high schools in New Jersey, J.P. Stevens ranks 47th and Edison High ranks 75th, according to New Jersey Monthly. Middlesex County College in Edison includes Middlesex County Academy, an engineering-based high school.
Private schools in Edison include the Wardlaw Hartridge School, the Lakeview School, parochial schools including Bishop George Ahr-St. Thomas High School, St. Helena School and St. Matthew School, as well as Rabbi Jacob Joseph Yeshiva School and Rabbi Pesach Raymon Yeshiva.
